Tomayate River Rescue

This morning, 29 yo Ever Antonio Perez Martinez was rescued after falling from a height of 30 meters to the banks of the Tomayate river. CDS rescuer Ricardo Leiva reports that the patient was lucky since a giant garbage pile near the river broke his fall resulting in a few scrapes and bruises. Inhabitants that live where the incident happened, in the small community of Regalito de Dios, old highway to Apopa and Quezaltepeque report that the incident happened possibly around 7pm on Saturday Jan 1 2011, but it was not until later in the morning, when they heard screams for help. At 8am Friday December 31st 2010, the walk in small surgery clinic of the main base attended to 32yo Jose Stanley Galvez who presented with a small contusion and clean laceration of his left eyelid. He states he and his friend were in the “HulaHula” area of downtown at 1am when there was a “misunderstanding” with another group of peers that assaulted him with a rock. Clinic worker Dora de Lovo provided care to Jose who states he is grateful he did not lose his eye during the altercation.  

After applying 70cc of Lidocaine, Dora used a Synature brand size 6-0 monofilament polypropylene (0.7 metric) to make five stitches. CDS wishes Stanely a quick recovery and educated him to be careful while walking downtown at night. Photos: Mark Hoffman

Edgar Jhonny Ramos Stable

EMS brigade leader of Comandos de Salvamento Edgar Jhonny was hospitalized last week in the Soyapango Amatepeq hospital due to acute symptoms of possible appendicitis. He was released today in stable condition and will be under weekly observation to determine if surgery is necesarry. Comandos from the Central Base transported Jhonny with his wife Natalie, and son Robin from the hospital to their home in San Bartolo. Comandos de Salvamento Central wishes Jhonny a swift recovery. Alcohol Intoxication in the Tiendona

At 830pm, Comando EMS members Manuel Juarez and Reynaldo Carrillo attended to 36 yo Juan Carlos Peña who presented with symptoms of possible alcohol poisoning. He was accompanied by Juan Javier Peña who had contacted the main base of CDS for help. Recovery at Tomayate River

SAR Cadaver Recovery.

At 1230pm, the Comandos SAR team was dispatched to recover a cadaver that was found near the Colonia Ismania Km 9.5 Troncal del Norte Highway in the Tomayate river. The public prosecutors office at the scene disclosed the name of the deceased as 26 yo Herberth Alirio Henriquez Hernandez. The cause of death was not determined due to high levels of decomposition.
