The National Civilan Police (PNC) reported a grenade explosion in the market area called Sagrado Corazón, @ the 5th Ave south and the Historic center of San Salvador. 12 people resulted injured, with 2 of them in critical condition. Comandos de Salvamento transported the victims to Rosales Hospital.
The injured victims are identified by Julio Rosales of Comandos de Salvamento as: 58yo José Calderón, his 30 yo son José Alberto Calderón, 38yo Baltasar Córdova, 30yo Abel Rivera, 27yo Carmen Rosales, 20yo Marta Henríquez, Sonia Margarita; Carlos Inocente, both 27yo; 55yo Tito Pérez, and 34yo Carlos Meléndez.
According to police, 2 individuals on a motorcycle rode past the market throwing a grenade. It is presumed that the injured are sellers in the area.
At this moment, the Bomb and Explosive division of the PNC have closed the perimeter.
