Haiti Trip on Hold

This post is also available in: Spanish

Previously posted: some Comandos were heading to Haiti.

Correction:

As directed per the National Civil Protection agency, a group of four search and rescue volunteers, specialists in recovery operations of collapsed buildings were on notice to be sent to Haiti. Travel paperwork was ready and pushed through by the San Salvador Fire dept. Unfortunately this morning, government authorities CANCELED the operation and the Comando team was demobilized.

The team of CDS SAR members remain always ready at any given notice.

    saludos y adelante

The main question for the minister of the government is why only the Fire dept and the Red Cross if Comandos also are part of National Civil Protection?
Or were there other influences? I hope not.
Or did the minister forget that Comandos have been trained in the Search and Recovery in the USA and in Norway?
A salute to and good luck

It appears that in El Salvador, preference, in some cases, is still common. Sometimes it is personal, or ignorance on the part of people in charge, I am talking about people in the government that make decisions without knowledge, or as I stated before, with “preference”.

Anyway, I know that CDS is a professional organization that is trained international and recognized on the international level. Every time something happens in El Salvador, one sees the yellow uniforms that are busy working in search and rescue, evacuations or offering medical assistance.

I believe that the government benefits from donations that are given when catastrophes happen and people see the work of Comandos.

The trip to Haiti could have been done to help others and to get more experience.
During the civil war, the right wing governments did not give the comandos the respect or dignity that they deserve until they saw the work they did during the final offensive battle where thousands of people that were rich, and poor, were evacuated and rescued.

Now that there is a Left wing government, it is the same. THIS MAKES ME UNDERSTAND THAT COMANDOS CONTINUES TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND MOST IMPORTANT, “NEUTRAL”, SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN.

However, for altruistic people of El Salvador who wave no flag to anyone, this is one organization that can help, with over 45 years of existence and testifying that it is a serious organization through their acts.
