Green Alert for Sonsonate

 The National Civilian Protection Agency has announced a Green Alert for three towns in the Dept. of Sonsonate due to recent rainstorms.

San Salvador, Tuesday, July 2011 8:30 p.m.

General Director Jorge Antonio Meléndez López, based on technical analysis of the Environmental Monitoring of the Ministry of Environment and Risk Reduction Unit of the Directorate General of Civil Protection, and in accordance with Article 22 of the Civil Protection Act , Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, announced a GREEN ALERT at 830pm for the municipalities of San Julian, Santa Isabel Cuisnahuat Ishuatán in the Department of Sonsonate, due to the accumulation of rain threatening landslides and flooding the area.

Therefore, the Directorate General of Civil Defense reports the following measures:

1. Activation is requested of the Municipal Commissions of the towns mentioned above, to maintain a state of permanent monitoring.

2. That the inhabitants of the municipalities affected by the Green Alert, abide by the measures and recommendations that the authorities provide.

3. Via social media, disseminating this alert and remain vigilant for any information issued by this Directorate General.

The Directorate General of Civil Protection, is remaining vigilant and is offering continuous monitoring of this situation.
