To Awake from a Coma

This post is also available in: Spanish

Luis Colato was discharged home from the Social Security Hospital where he was operated on in mid March after suffering a CVA provoked from hitting his head while attending to patients in Santa Ana. He was comatose for two weeks and has slowly recovered. He can remember some names but cannot recall everyone since, as he states, “they changed out my chipset”. Throughout his recovery, CDS held many marches hoping for improvement of his health status. He was transported home today to El Plan del Pito in Mejicanos by colleague Edgar Jhonny Ramos and other volunteers. Luis is the director of the Comandos First Aid school where he has offered courses to medical students entering the University of El Salvador, and to other educational centers throughout San Salvador. He also teaches our new EMS recruits and offers refresher courses to CDS bases throughout the country. His knowledge has educated many generations in first responder pre hospital care. Luis also serves as secretary on the CDS board. CDS administration are grateful to all who have supported Luis Colato.
