FENASTRAS Bombing Remembered, 1989

This post is also available in: Spanish Norwegian Bokmål French Chinese (Simplified) Japanese

On 31 October 1989, a bomb devastated the headquarters of the FENASTRAS labor federation in San Salvador, killing union members and others and injuring dozens. The attack took place amid a campaign of death-squad violence and persecution against trade unions during El Salvador’s civil war. The crime was never fully investigated.

Comandos de Salvamento responded at the scene, providing assistance and helping protect and support loved ones who arrived in the aftermath. These photographs preserve the memory of the victims and the humanitarian support offered that day.
