Two people experienced moments of anguish Thursday night when the minibus in which they were traveling toward the East along the prolongation of Bulevar Constitución crashed into a tractor-trailer.
Rescue units from Comandos de Salvamento and a medical team arrived at the scene to begin freeing the driver and passenger, who were trapped in the twisted metal of the vehicle.
The rescuers used the newly arrived extrication equipment to free the victims, who, after being freed and stabilized, were taken to medical centers as an emergency.
The minibus driver was identified as Douglas Alfredo Aguirre Quintanilla, 25, who suffered multiple traumas. His companion was José Ariel Rodríguez Rivera, 22.
Comandos de Salvamento worked very quickly to stabilize the victims and successfully free them with the new equipment that arrived in the country a few days ago, thanks to funds from Ayuda Popular Noruega and Bomberos de Puyallup, United States.
