About 15 people awoke on Sunday night in a residential tenement located at the end of 1st Avenida Sur and Calle Modelo, in Barrio Modelo. At around eight-thirty, some neighbors reported that smoke was coming from a room.

Units from the Cuerpo de Bomberos de El Salvador, supported by members of the emergency-relief organizations, arrived to put out the flames that were rapidly consuming the building due to its infrastructure.

Comandos de Salvamento assisted two people who suffered first-degree burns and were treated at the scene of the incident.
