Volunteers will have to take safety measures in the event of any contagion.

Comandos de Salvamento trained its personnel Tuesday afternoon who maintain contact with the various patients during transfers to medical centers.

Dr. Julio Orellana gave the talk with the objective of enabling Comandos de Salvamento volunteers to maintain and recognize the symptoms of the disease, which has already left more than 400 people dead in China, the country where the virus originated and which keeps health authorities worldwide on alert.

The virus is known to cause a series of illnesses, from a simple cold to a respiratory condition. Therefore, a series of preventive measures must be taken to avoid becoming infected with the disease.

The symptoms detected so far include coughing, fever, sore throat, difficulty breathing, and general discomfort.

In light of this, the general population is advised to follow these recommendations:

1- Wash your hands with plenty of water and soap.

2- Disinfect your hands before touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

3- Avoid direct contact with people suffering from respiratory conditions.

4- Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing.

If experiencing any symptoms, go to a medical center and do not self-medicate.
