One person died this afternoon when the vehicle in which he was traveling as a passenger crashed into an electrical utility pole, while the driver, who lost control of the car, suffered several traumas and was rushed to a medical center.
Members of the Vehicle Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento arrived at kilometer 30 of the Pan-American Highway, near the Cavalry Detachment, where the traffic accident occurred, to free José Roberto Tamayo, 52, who had become trapped among the twisted metal of the vehicle and died instantly.
Minutes later, the body was freed for the judicial and prosecutorial authorities to carry out the legally required identification.
Comandos de Salvamento has repeatedly called on drivers to respect traffic signs and speed limits so as not to continue bringing mourning and pain to families.
