Shelters are already receiving victims from the Ilopango area.

More than 100 people have been taken to the shelters established by the Municipal Protección Civil Commission of Ilopango. Comandos de Salvamento of the Ilopango branch is assisting them during their stay and providing pre-hospital care to those affected by Tropical Storm Amanda, which has already left more than ten people dead and nearly a thousand affected.

Early in the morning, rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento of Ilopango arrived in Colonia Santa Lucía, where they carried out the first evacuations and rescued a man who had been trapped with his minibus and had managed to climb onto the vehicle’s roof to save his life.

A rescuer managed to reach the man, bring him to safety, and subsequently have him examined by a paramedic from Comandos de Salvamento.

By tonight, mattresses, blankets, some clothing, and food had already been delivered to the two shelters established in Ilopango.

In addition, branches in the central, eastern, and western areas of the country continue working in coordination with the Municipal Protección Civil Commissions to coordinate evacuation efforts in high-risk areas so that people can reach safety in the shelters.
