TRAILER LOSES CONTROL AND LEAVES TWO INJURED

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento assisted the driver of a trailer and his companion this afternoon after they were involved in a traffic accident on the Carretera Troncal del Norte.

Excessive speed caused the trailer transporting sugarcane to lose control at kilometer 4.5 of the Carretera Troncal del Norte. Rescue and medical units from Comandos de Salvamento arrived minutes later at the impact area, using their hydraulic equipment to free the driver, who was still inside the vehicle.

After freeing the driver, he was provided pre-hospital care and was subsequently taken to a medical center.

Police authorities closed the roadway due to the oil and gasoline spill to prevent a larger accident, which caused heavy traffic congestion.
