DRIVER NEGLIGENCE CAUSES RESCUER’S DEATH AND DAMAGES AMBULANCES

Cruz Verde rescuer dies after being struck by a minibus while towing his car.

In the last few hours, a young Cruz Verde Salvadoreña rescuer lost his life on Bulevar Constitución while attempting to tow his vehicle in the early morning hours.

Volunteer Hugo Sigfredo Flores, 22, got out to check the tow when a minibus struck the vehicle and ran him over. Comandos de Salvamento arrived to assist him, and despite the procedures performed on him, the young man lost his battle. Two other rescuers were also injured in the same incident.

Meanwhile, on Friday afternoon, an ambulance belonging to Comandos de Salvamento that was responding to an emergency was struck by a truck on 10th Avenida Norte and 29th Calle Oriente, even though the unit had its siren on.

No rescuers were reported injured; only the ambulance was damaged.

Another emergency unit belonging to Comandos de Salvamento was struck by a pickup truck while responding to a traffic accident reported at kilometer 22 of the Pan-American Highway near Cojutepeque.

The volunteers were assisting the victims of a traffic accident when the pickup driver crashed into the rear of the ambulance. No rescuer was injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento assisted an older adult who was struck on kilometer 12.5 of the Troncal del Norte Highway.

The victim was taken to a medical facility because of the trauma suffered in the road incident.

In Ciudad Arce, volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento urgently transported an older adult who was struck by a motorcyclist at the stop known as El Tempisque in Santa Lucía. He was admitted to Fosalud in Ciudad Arce.

Comandos de Salvamento are responding to a traffic accident at kilometer 58 of the road from Santa Ana to San Salvador, where a motorcyclist was involved in a traffic accident.
