Rosa Arrué, Health Coordinator of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, gives instructions to patients.

From the early hours of the morning, members of the Doctors of the Americas, who arrived in our country yesterday afternoon and evening, set out together with Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador to travel to Cantón Guajoyo, in the Municipio of Tecoluca, Departamento of San Vicente.

A total of 34 medical professionals who are part of the Doctors of the Americas contingent, along with physicians from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, arrived at Cantón Guajoyo, where nearly 500 people eagerly awaited the start of the Health Campaign.

Dr. Andrew Badulak inspected the area in order to begin the Medical Campaign and alleviate the ailments of residents arriving from the different caseríos that make up Cantón Guajoyo.

Children, women, and elderly people were the first to be attended by the Americans, most of whom speak Spanish or, with the help of translators, provided examinations to patients who also received their medications free of charge in the pharmacy area.

The sacrifice of the Doctors of the Americas is admirable; although some of them arrived at night, they were ready from very early in the morning to begin the journey, taking advantage of the trip to sleep until they reached their destination.

Members of the Doctors of the Americas have taken their vacations to help the country’s most needy communities. For some of them, it is their first time visiting the country; nevertheless, they have shared their best medical knowledge with local residents.
