Hundreds of residents of Cantón La Peña, in the Municipio of Alegría, Departamento of Usulután, were awaiting the arrival Monday morning of the Doctors of the Americas, who, carrying medicines, would provide free consultations.
Children, women, and elderly people waited their turn to consult with the American doctors, who for 19 years have visited the country to conduct a series of health campaigns benefiting people with limited financial resources. The activity is coordinated with Comandos de Salvamento.
Dr. Andrew Badulak, head of the Doctors of the Americas mission, thanked the residents for waiting for the visit of his colleagues, who happily provided diagnoses to patients who also sought out the pharmacy area to collect the medications prescribed to relieve their illnesses.
Stephanie Badulak, together with sisters Sophi and Alexis Schneider, distributed clothing, toys, footwear, and other items to those who had already received medical consultations. The people thanked the young women and their leader for the gesture; he has carried out this activity for years.
The Doctors of the Americas will conduct two more health campaigns, one of them in Cantón El Canelo, in the jurisdiction of Nahuizalco, in the Departamento of Sonsonate, and they will conclude their activities on Wednesday in Comunidad del Río de las Cañas, in San Bartolo, Ilopango.
