Lifeguards from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador saved 70 people from drowning.

The @alertacomando #SalvaTuVida Rescue Operation came to an end this Easter Sunday, with more than one thousand two hundred volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador participating during the holiday season from March 24 to 31.

Roberto Cruz, Executive Director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, first thanked the young volunteers for the time and willingness they offered to respond to emergencies, among which the 100 traffic accidents attended stand out.

It should be noted that the road accidents left 116 injured people, six of whom were reported dead, and were among the incidents handled by the rescuers deployed on the country’s highways, tourist centers, and beaches.

For the Executive Director, the lifeguard personnel deployed at the main Pacific beaches managed to rescue 70 tourists who were on the verge of losing their lives. However, their statistics include two people who died by drowning at sites where no specialized water-rescue personnel were present.

The specialized Vertical and Vehicle Rescue Units also played a fundamental role in saving several people’s lives. In addition, at the request of police and judicial authorities, they assisted in the recovery of two bodies.

The first-aid posts of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador installed at various tourist sites and bathing areas, as well as at religious events, provided pre-hospital assistance to 167 people, who were treated by technical personnel, nurses, and doctors.

In this way, the Board of Directors and Executive Directorate of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador thank their volunteers, private companies such as CACTIUSA de R.L., ECONORED, CAJAS DE CRÉDITO, LA CATALANA, and others that contributed to successfully concluding once again the mission of safeguarding Salvadorans’ lives.
