Roberto Cruz, Director of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador, once again asked his delegates to call in personnel to form emergency brigades for the coming hours, due to the stormy weather affecting the country.
The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources stated that the rains are caused by a low-pressure area following a tropical wave moving across the Atlantic, generating the intermittent rains that have already left an accumulation of water.
In view of this, Roberto Cruz has asked his volunteers to be present in greater numbers this weekend, when the rain is expected to continue. The rain has already caused damage in some areas through landslides and fallen trees, but so far has not caused any loss of life.
During the previous rains, 20 people lost their lives, and hundreds of families were evacuated as a preventive measure, which made it possible to set up shelters where they were provided with everything necessary by the Government authorities of President Nayib Bukele.
In the eastern part of the country, the Comandos de Salvamento of Sensuntepeque, Alegría, Chimaneca have removed trees that obstructed roads, together with Protección Civil, in order to safely reopen vehicle traffic.
In Zacatecoluca, the Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador inspected homes in Colonia Río Blanco, in Cantón El Socorro, where a landslide affected several homes.
For this reason, Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador asks the public to remain alert and seek safe areas if they see danger caused by the rains.
