Families were evacuated.

Two families living in one of the homes on Avenida Monseñor Romero, between 5th Calle Poniente and Alameda Juan Pablo II, suffered nervous breakdowns when the old structure collapsed.

Women, children, and some dogs were inside the property and became trapped behind the home, which collapsed at the front.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento and personnel from Protección Civil and the Policía Nacional Civil arrived at the scene to help the people evacuate and take them to a safe place.

The volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento helped remove personal belongings, some appliances, and their pets.

Families in neighboring homes have been alerted so they can seek safe areas, because the rains have weakened the foundations of homes dating from the 1960s and 1970s.
