Around 50 students were stung by a beehive that collapsed during the earthquake.

Nearly 50 students from the El Espíritu Santo Catholic Educational Complex were affected after the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that shook the national territory knocked down a beehive located inside the bell tower facilities, causing it to collapse due to the seismic movement.

The students, who initially evacuated the classrooms for safety, were stung by the bees while searching for a safe place.

Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador, Juayúa branch, in Sonsonate, arrived at the educational center to assist the students, who had stings on different parts of their bodies.

Eleven young students had to be taken to clinics because of the allergic symptoms they were experiencing.

The affected students were taken in a Policía Nacional Civil patrol vehicle, by Municipal Government personnel, and by Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador.

The facilities of the El Espíritu Santo Catholic Educational Complex were evacuated, and the intervention of the Cuerpo de Bomberos de El Salvador is expected to control the swarm of bees.

11 students were taken to clinics for treatment after presenting allergic symptoms.
