Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador and Cruz Verde carry out body recovery.

Members of the Vertical Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador were alerted this afternoon by the Policía Nacional Civil about the body of a person floating in the waters of the Tomayate River, in the Urbanización Majucla sector of Apopa.

The volunteers arrived at the location where the body of a man approximately fifty years old had been spotted. The causes of his death and how long he had been missing were unknown.

Using the equipment for the descent, the rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador were supported by members of Cruz Verde, who came to the location to assist with the recovery efforts.

After two hours, rescuers from both institutions managed to package the body in order to begin raising it and place it on solid ground.

Authorities from the Fiscalía General de la República and the Instituto Medicina Legal, together with the Policía Nacional Civil, began the legally required identification process.

The body of the approximately 50-year-old man was handed over to the authorities for identification.
