Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador conducted an accident drill involving three vehicles: a passenger microbus-type coaster, a sedan, and a motorcycle, resulting in twelve people injured, some seriously and others with minor injuries.
Eight medical units and one vehicle-rescue unit arrived at the scene, along with 75 volunteers, including paramedics and vehicle-rescue specialists, who demonstrated their skill in rescuing two trapped people, as well as providing prehospital care to injured people before they were transferred to different medical facilities.
This operation took place on the overpass at Redondel Integración, in the lane leading from Residencial La Gloria to Quezaltepeque. The emergency call was received at the Central Comandos de Salvamento headquarters at 13:45, and by two in the afternoon they were already responding at the accident scene.
Members of @alertacomando from the Central Base and the delegations in Nejapa, Apopa, San Martin, Zaragoza, Quezaltepeque, and Ilopango participated in the event. The drill was conducted to assess the volunteers’ response capacity so they would be prepared to act in a real situation involving multiple victims with different types of trauma.
In this way, volunteers are prepared for their 2025 rescue operation, called @alertacomando #SalvaTuVida, which aims to serve the entire Salvadoran population and foreign tourists while they enjoy their Easter vacation. The operation runs from March 12 to April 19, 2025.
Comandos de Salvamento is also conducting the @alertaComando #SalvaTuVida awareness campaign for motorists and tourists on social media, advising them to drive cautiously and avoid distraction at the wheel.
