Volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador assist one of the three injured people.

On Saturday morning, Hazzel Elibeth Molina Garay was putting on her formal uniform and the crown that identifies her as the queen of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador.

At around eight in the morning, a minibus collided with a pickup truck on Calle Arce and 13a. Avenida Sur, near the Basilica Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where three people were injured.

Hazzel Elibeth was in one of the ambulances preparing to participate in the parade marking the 65th Anniversary of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador when they were alerted to the traffic accident in the area.

The young rescuer Hazzel Elibeth was one of the first to assist one of the victims, regardless of whether her outfit, hairstyle, or crown might be damaged. “My love for my fellow human beings is more important to me than a crown,” the volunteer said.

Hazzel Elibeth Molina Garay, 18, is a student pursuing a vocational technical qualification in the Health field at a private school. She lives with her mother, grandmother, and older brother in Ciudad Delgado.

Three years ago, she arrived as a student to complete the practical training required by the educational institution. However, after observing the other young rescuers, she chose to become part of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador, enrolling in First Aid and Pre-Hospital Care courses, for which she obtained certification.

Subsequently, Hazzel  Elibeth managed to complete the demanding training to become part of the select Vertical and Vehicle Rescue group. The training is rigorous, but her spirit of service overcame obstacles, and she now demonstrates that her heart is made to help her fellow human beings at all times.

Regardless of her crown, Hazzel Elibeth carries one of the splints used to transport victims of the traffic accident.
Minutes after attending to the traffic accident, Hazzel Elibeth displayed her best smile.
In the end, Hazzel Elibeth smiled at life.
