Early Sunday morning, four people lost their lives in two traffic accidents at different points in the Salvadoran capital.
Comandos de Salvamento, appeared at Orden de Malta Boulevard in Santa Elena, Antiguo Cuscatlán, where three of the four people traveling in a vehicle lost their lives instantly.
According to traffic authorities, the crash occurred due to excessive speed, as the automobile’s driver lost control and crashed into an electrical pole. The impact threw two of its occupants from the vehicle, and their bodies landed on the roadway, which had to be closed while Legal Medicine authorities arrived.
Meanwhile, the driver, identified as Carlos Alberto Olguín, who survived the serious accident, was taken to a medical center in delicate condition.
The deceased were identified as Pedro Benjamín Escobar, Zoila Patricia de Abrego, and Pedro Alejandro Delgado.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist traveling along the Juan Pablo II Alameda Extension in Colonia Escalón lost his life after falling into an approximately five-meter-deep residual pit that was under construction; due to the lack of visibility, he fell accidentally.
Members of the Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento carried out the rescue operations for Mr. Francisco Antonio Rivas Méndez, who, despite the efforts of the paramedics and doctors from the Medical Emergency System, lost the battle and remained at the scene for the legally required identification.
