Both occupants suffered burns while attempting to put out the flames that consumed the truck.

This morning, rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Zacatecoluca branch, assisted two people who suffered first- and second-degree burns when the vehicle in which they were traveling caught fire.

The incident occurred on the Autopista Litoral near Cantón Los Zacatillos, in the jurisdiction of San Juan Nonualco.

According to the account given by the occupants of the unit transporting diesel to the company where they work, an electrical-system defect caused a fuel explosion. Both workers attempted to put out the flames and were affected by the fire.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador treated Edgardo Antonio Torres Cortez, 35, and Leonardo Daniel Pérez Flores, 36, at the scene; both were taken to a hospital.
