Thirty-two young rescuers managed to pass the physical tests to enter the Escuela de Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, “Yolanda Elizabeth Ramírez,” where they will take theoretical and practical classes to become members of the Vertical Rescue team.

Yony Ramos, one of the instructors at the Escuela de Comandos, states that these young volunteers from the different Comandos de Salvamento delegations underwent a difficult test to be eligible for selection and to begin their classes this Friday, September 5.

The rescuers have begun with demanding aptitude tests and theoretical classes that are a fundamental part of each training course, which the volunteers must pass in order to climb one more step in their knowledge, later putting it into practice during their shifts.

Thirty-two female and male volunteers have already begun to feel that this new stage of their lives will not be easy, since the techniques must be mastered. They will later learn about all the safety equipment needed to carry out rescues in difficult areas.

The new candidates will have to overcome practical exercises in high-risk areas and learn how to handle all the safety equipment in order to descend into or climb areas where a vertical rescue can be performed.

The course is being funded thanks to Norwegian Popular Aid, APN, which provides support so that the volunteers can gain greater knowledge in the various specialties offered by Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador.

Rescuers from the different delegations participate in the training.
32 young volunteers have entered the new vertical rescue course.
