The image of the Divine Savior of the World leaves the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to begin the procession to the Metropolitan Cathedral.

More than three hundred volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento and 20 ambulances participated in the procession of the Divine Savior of the World, patron saint of the capital’s residents, as part of the August festivities.

90 volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador carried the image of the Divine Savior of the World as part of a tradition, having been selected by the authorities of the Catholic Church to carry out this act.

Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador also assigned another group of rescuers who assisted parishioners experiencing ailments or illnesses, who were treated on an outpatient basis during the procession that began at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and passed along several capital-city thoroughfares.

It is noted that thousands of Catholic faithful attended and, despite the intense rain, accompanied the urn bearing the image of the Divine Savior of the World, which arrived at around seven o’clock in the evening at the Metropolitan Cathedral, where the transfiguration took place.
