Two minors died buried on Thursday night in the Quiróz neighborhood of Soyapango, at around ten o’clock at night, after a wall collapsed onto their home.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, together with other service institutions, managed to rescue a man who only suffered minor injuries, while Gabriela Argumedo, 36, the mother of the minors, was sleeping with them in the room where the landslide and wall from a home in a residential development fell.
The rescuers worked for more than three hours with shovels and picks to recover the bodies of Hazel Inés Miranda Argumedo, 7, and her sister Ailin Eunice Miranda Argumedo, 5, so that they could be identified by the judicial authorities.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has asked people living in vulnerable areas to seek shelters that have been made available by the Government of President Nayib Bukele.
Roberto Cruz, Executive Director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, has urged people to remain alert because the rains have not stopped.
