Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador and the Medical Emergency System, SEM, assisted a sanitation truck worker this morning who was run over by a vehicle that apparently failed to see that the person was collecting solid waste for the truck.
The incident occurred on Calle Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in front of the La Diana complex, at around six this morning.
Volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador were alerted about the person who had been struck; however, upon arriving at the scene, the person had very weak vital signs, so they proceeded, together with a SEM physician, to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, but minutes later the victim was declared dead.
The worker for the Soyapango Municipal Government was identified as José Secundino Gómez, whose body remained at the accident scene to be identified by judicial, prosecutorial, and police authorities.
The owner of the pickup truck that ran over the municipal worker remained at the scene of the incident to face the charges.
