Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador responded to the call on Thursday night, when an elderly man was buried after part of a house collapsed and fell into the Urbina River.

The victim was identified as Fernando de León Mejía, 75, and at the time of the tragedy, the elderly man was alone in Colonia Santa Rosa, Ciudad Delgado.

The constant rains that have affected the national territory have caused water accumulation, which is why the authorities of Protección Civil and the Environment maintain an early warning system so that people living in vulnerable areas remain alert and seek shelter in safe areas in the event of any dangerous eventuality.

The Director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Roberto Cruz, called on all its branches to keep some of their personnel on alert during the storms in order to act effectively in evacuations or the rescue of victims.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador and other entities located the body of an elderly man who died buried in Ciudad Delgado on Thursday night.
