Members of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador from the San Martín and Ilopango sections and the central base have begun training new personnel in water rescue.

This training is being conducted on Lake Ilopango, using an inflatable boat to mobilize and perform maneuvers that will be highly useful during the August vacation season.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador began in the 1960s with a group of lifeguards who provided their services free of charge to the Salvadoran population. Years later, it became an emergency and humanitarian service organization.

Currently, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador deploys personnel specialized in water rescue at different beaches and tourist centers during the Easter and August vacation seasons.

The training will also include diving practice, using borrowed equipment, and donations will subsequently be sought to establish a deep-water search and water rescue unit.

Anyone wishing to donate diving equipment can call 21 33-0000; it would be very useful.
