HEROIC ACT ENDS IN DEATH, GRANDFATHER RESCUES GRANDDAUGHTER

A family outing turned into a tragedy today when three people enjoying a moment at one of the beaches of Puerto de La Libertad were swept away.

Comandos de Salvamento was alerted at around two-thirty in the afternoon this Sunday that a young woman and her daughter had been swept away by a wave that invaded the area of an establishment. Upon arriving, relatives asked them to search for José Alberto Henríquez Cantor, 50, who, after getting his daughter and granddaughter onto dry land, was carried away by a current.

An hour later, Mr. Henríquez Cantor’s body was located and brought to dry land to be identified by police and judicial authorities.

Joseline Abigail Henríquez Canales, 24, and her daughter Katherine, one year and six months old, were transferred to FOSALUD in Puerto de La Libertad.
