The lack of visibility and signage along the road from Quezaltepeque to San Juan Opico, at kilometer 24, where a large sinkhole formed as a result of the effects of Tropical Storm Amanda, caused a traffic accident that left two people injured when the vehicle in which they were traveling fell into it.

At around three-thirty this morning, the incident was recorded in the lane from San Juan Opico to Quezaltepeque. The victims were the vehicle’s driver, Luis Armando Torrento, 20, and Edith Maribel Regalado, 24. Both were taken to Zacamil Hospital by Comandos de Salvamento rescuers from Quezaltepeque.

In other news, one person died Wednesday night at the small plaza in Ciudad Delgado after the vehicle in which they were traveling crashed. Two other passengers suffered serious injuries and were taken to medical centers.
