Hero Dog Rocky Found in Sensunte

A telephone call at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to the PNC delegation in Sensuntepeque alerted authorities to the presence of a little dog matching the characteristics of Sensuntepeque’s hero dog. According to a police officer, “Rocky” was walking along the Calle to Ciudad Dolores, near Colonia Las Brisas.

The little dog was identified Thursday night when they observed that the canine had the marks from the treatment for the wound he suffered after defending his owner during a robbery in the center of town.

Agents from the Sensuntepeque police subdelegation confirmed to DIARIO LA PAGINA that Rocky is in good health, since he can walk and eat. As of this Friday, the little dog’s menu consisted of tortillas and rice.  For her part, Ivonne Hernández, representative of the Rolly pet shelter, assured DIARIO LA PAGINA that she was extremely happy about finding the dog: “now we will be able to find him a home,” she said.

Hernández confirmed that a committee of citizens had taken on the task of finding the dog’s whereabouts, searching in places near the central park of that city, where the dog normally wandered.  “We are happy to have found him,” said Hernández, who traveled to Sensuntepeque Friday afternoon to take him to San Salvador.

Now all that remains is to find him a new home.
