Nearly half a hundred rescuers from the various branches of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador began a vertical rescue course this Friday, running from October 30 to December 6.
The young volunteers are trained in the use of ropes and knots, as well as in handling the various mechanisms needed to rescue victims.
The course, open to young women and men from the various branches, requires physical conditioning to become part of this select group of rescuers. Participants are trained under the standards established by the instructors and their assistants to effectively complete the theoretical and practical lessons.
Physical conditioning is one of the fundamental parts of this type of training, as strength and skill are required to overcome the various obstacles participants must tackle.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has its own specialized school to provide ongoing training to its personnel, thanks to funding from Ayuda Popular Noruega, APN, which supports the various training programs, as well as the Gender Unit.
