Tomayate River Rescue

This morning, 29 yo Ever Antonio Perez Martinez was rescued after falling from a height of 30 meters to the banks of the Tomayate river. CDS rescuer Ricardo Leiva reports that the patient was lucky since a giant garbage pile near the river broke his fall resulting in a few scrapes and bruises. Inhabitants that live where the incident happened, in the small community of Regalito de Dios, old highway to Apopa and Quezaltepeque report that the incident happened possibly around 7pm on Saturday Jan 1 2011, but it was not until later in the morning, when they heard screams for help. Recovery at Tomayate River

SAR Cadaver Recovery.

At 1230pm, the Comandos SAR team was dispatched to recover a cadaver that was found near the Colonia Ismania Km 9.5 Troncal del Norte Highway in the Tomayate river. The public prosecutors office at the scene disclosed the name of the deceased as 26 yo Herberth Alirio Henriquez Hernandez. The cause of death was not determined due to high levels of decomposition.

SAR: Volcano Llamatepeq, Santa Ana

At 1025pm, dispatch recieved a call requesting the Comandos Search and Rescue team in order to help find 23 people who had gotten lost while hiking the Santa Ana Volcano. The Central Base SAR group and a small EMS unit was dispatched along with support from cds delegate bases of Apopa and El Congo.

23 CDS  members arrived to the scene and coordinated with other SAR members of the Salvadoran Red Cross. The location of the hiking group was finalized at 445am. Treatment included attending to possible hypothermia yet none presented with any acute injuries or symptoms.  At 53oam, descent operations of the patients started. Airforce Day Rescue Demonstration

Comandos de Salvamento paticipated in a rescue simulation this last Friday, 10th of December to celebrate National Aviation Day of the Salvadoran Air Force. Present at the celebration was president Mauricio Funes and other government officials. Other flight excercises included A-37 jet flybys and acrobatics. Recovery of the Dead at Ilobasco Jail

Comandos de Salvamento worked hard this Wednesday November 10th in the body recovery of 16 inmates that burned to death in the juvenile jail, “Centro Alternativo de Jóvenes Infractores” in the town of Ilobasco, department of Cabañas. EMS crews also transported 20 burn patients to different hospitals throughout Ilobasco and San Salvador. First to arrive on scene were our delegate base members of Sensuntepeque who then alerted the main base to mobilize three more CDS Units, 2 from San Salvador and one from San Martin to give necessary support. Preliminary reports from authorities in charge indicate that the fire in “sector one” was due to a short circuit. Investigations continue at this time. Fotos: CDS, Terra Networks, S.A.
