Comandos de Salvamento deployed hundreds of volunteers at the various polling centers authorized by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal so that Salvadorans could cast their votes in the elections for mayors, deputies, and members of Parlacen.
During the day, more than 200 people were assisted after suffering sunstroke and high blood pressure, as well as diabetic patients who, for some reason, had forgotten to take their medication.
Several of those assisted were members of political parties and polling-station boards who suffered various ailments and required pre-hospital assistance.
In addition, the young volunteers helped elderly people travel to the polling-station boards so they could cast their ballots, using wheelchairs to facilitate their movement.
However, traffic accidents occurred at several points throughout the country. One of them was reported early in the morning at 20th Avenida Norte and 29th Calle Oriente, where a minor was injured when the vehicle in which he was traveling collided.
On Bulevar San Bartolo, two people traveling on a motorcycle were hit by a vehicle, leaving the couple with trauma injuries. They were assisted by Comandos de Salvamento rescuers and taken to San Bartolo Hospital in Ilopango.
Another traffic incident was reported at the end of Bulevar Venezuela, where a motorcyclist was struck by a car, sustaining trauma to his lower limbs.
