Last Thursday, August 26, International Day against Dengue was commemorated. Comandos de Salvamento, aware of the danger this disease represents among the population, supports fumigation campaigns to eradicate the transmitting mosquito.
Volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento of Ciudad Arce and Zapotitán have undertaken the task of carrying out fumigations in caseríos and cantones in these municipios, supporting the Health Units and the Municipal Protección Civil Committees that seek to guide and educate people in the fight against dengue, since by May the suspected cases of this disease exceeded 1,400.
Therefore, Comandos de Salvamento seeks to bring fumigation and guidance to family groups so that efforts can be made to eradicate mosquito breeding grounds and larvae.
The only effective way to prevent it is by controlling populations of transmitting mosquitoes. These are some recommendations:
- Properly dispose of solid and liquid waste.
- Prevent mosquitoes from finding places to lay their eggs.
- Apply the appropriate treatments to containers where water is stored.
- Cover, empty, and periodically clean containers where water is stored for domestic use.
- Clean gutters, animal drinking containers, or places where water is stored for other uses.
- Keep grass short.
- Change the water in flower vases regularly.
- Use repellents to prevent mosquito bites.
- Get vaccinated against dengue.
Therefore, the population is urged to follow these recommendations so that, in this way, we can eradicate dengue and contribute to the fight against it.
