The strong winds that accompanied last night’s storm caused damage to at least 9 homes in Comunidad La Tabla, in the Municipio of Nejapa, as well as bringing down several trees that left several Colonia areas cut off.

Comandos de Salvamento, seccional Nejapa, arrived at the Comunidad, where the roofs of two homes were completely destroyed, turning the affected families over to the municipal authorities for relocation. A woman suffered minor injuries when she was struck by roof tiles that fell on her after the roof of her home gave way.

Likewise, with the help of chainsaws, they carried out tree-removal work to reopen access to the Colonia areas and communities that were affected. The volunteers of Comandos de Salvamento, from Nejapa, together with Protección Civil Municipal, cleaned the affected areas.

Comandos de Salvamento recommends that people living in high-risk areas remain alert with the arrival of the rainy season and seek safe areas to avoid tragedies. In case of emergency, call 2133-0000.
