Christopher Ramírez, a young Salvadoran Canadian, arrived in the country together with three of his colleagues, who are part of the British Columbia Paramedics team in Canada, where they provide emergency services.

Eight years ago, Christopher Ramírez was part of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador while living in our country for a time, inspired by the vocation of his aunt, who is a nurse in the FOSALUD system.

Since then, he returned to his native country, Canada, where he joined the British Columbia Paramedics. Since then, he has trained in the healthcare field in order to respond to emergencies in the province located in the western part of the country.

The paramedics accompanying Christopher include Angus Marshall, Keath Biddlecombe, and Marco Mongu, who have already begun experiencing their first emergencies in the ambulances of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador.

The Canadian professionals seek to learn firsthand about the work carried out by Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, in order to seek assistance in that nation to be sent to El Salvador so that emergency response can continue.

“For us, this is a great experience. In addition to the kindness with which we have been treated, the degree of professionalism we have observed in each of the young volunteers with whom we have responded to emergencies is very good,” Christopher Ramírez said.

The Canadian paramedics will remain for two days at the central headquarters of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador. They hope to visit the delegations in Berlín, Alegría, and Sensuntepeque.

On Thursday, they will visit the branches in Antiguo Cuscatlán, Sacacoyo, and Sonsonate. In addition, on Friday they will tour the delegations in Ilopango, Apopa, and Quezaltepeque.

On Saturday, they will travel to the Ciudad Arce delegation, where we will spend the entire morning with the group of instructors and participants in the APH course. The Santa Ana branch will also be visited. The paramedics from Canada will attend the practical exercises carried out by the volunteers in the Vertical Rescue course, where they will contribute some of their knowledge.

For Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, it is an honor that the group of Canadian paramedics sought out the institution in order to establish a bond of friendship and cooperation.
