Driver crashes into tractor-trailer with mechanical problems at kilometer 14.

Early this morning, another group of four vendors traveling from Zacatecoluca and San Juan Nonualco to the Mercado Central de San Salvador lost their lives when the pickup truck in which they were traveling crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer with mechanical problems near kilometer 14 of the Road to El Salvador International Airport.

Units from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Cruz Roja, Cruz Verde, SEM, Policía and Protección Civil assisted the victims, who were thrown from the vehicle when it collided with the tractor-trailer.

Three of the vendors died instantly, while a fourth lost the battle at a medical center where she had been admitted.

The other people who sustained serious injuries are receiving care at the hospitals to which they were taken; some of them have a guarded prognosis.

Last Tuesday the 18th, another group of female vendors was injured after the pickup truck in which they intended to travel to San Salvador crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer on the same kilometer.

The lack of lighting and improperly parked tractor-trailers have been the causes of the road crashes in this area, according to some drivers passing through the collision site.

Four vendors lost their lives and five were injured.
Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador assist the vendors.
