Canelo remained abandoned on the riverbank for nearly 10 days

Members of the Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador rescued two dogs in danger last Monday and placed them in the custody of the authorities.

The first rescue, involving a female dog, took place in a well located near the Puchero Soccer Field, where the dog had fallen to a depth of approximately 25 meters. As a result, the first attempts on Sunday night to recover her and turn her over to the Animal Protection Unit of the Nejapa Mayor’s Office for evaluation and care were unsuccessful.

It was not until Monday morning, with the support of Poli Pet, the Rural Police, and the Nejapa branch of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, that it was possible to put a muzzle on the dog and recover her so she could be taken for a medical checkup.

In Comunidad La Isla #1, in San Salvador, rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador were alerted that a dog had been abandoned for approximately 10 days on the banks of the river known as Chilama, which runs through the community.

The volunteers managed to locate him and begin recovering the dog, who was in poor condition due to a lack of food.

The dog was handed over to representatives of the San Salvador Municipal Mayor’s Office.
