Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has ordered that the alert be maintained due to the arrival of a Low-Pressure system and an Intertropical Convergence Zone, which could affect the national territory in the coming hours.

The Dirección General de Protección Civil has sent the communiqué issuing the Green Alert nationwide, following the announcement by the Observatorio de Amenazas of the Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (MARN), which refers to the Low-Pressure System and Intertropical Convergence Zone that will generate rain starting tonight.

In response, the Executive Directorate of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has asked its 30 delegations to keep their personnel on alert, as the rains could cause flooding and landslides.

On Tuesday night, the population of Jucuapa, in the Departamento de Usulután, suffered damage to several roads and homes in the Municipio. Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Jucuapa and Chinameca branches, provided assistance to those affected.

Meanwhile, volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Alegría branch, cleared a landslide of earth and rocks that obstructed the road leading from Alegría to Santiago de María, in Usulután.

Members of the Urban and Vertical Rescue units of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador have already been alerted to the situation so that, in the event of an emergency, they can travel to the potentially affected areas.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador recommends that the general public remain alert during the rains and advises motorists not to speed and to avoid crossing streams during rainfall.
