The Executive Directorate of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, headed by Mr. Roberto Cruz, has followed the instructions of the National Directorate of Protección Civil in response to the arrival of possible rains this weekend.

According to authorities from the Threat Observatory of the Ministry of the Environment, rains associated with the Intertropical Convergence Zone, over the coasts of Central America, could intensify beginning Friday night, with major impacts on the country in the coming hours.

Therefore, Protección Civil authorities have declared an orange alert nationwide, calling on emergency-response organizations to maintain a state of emergency with their personnel in order to act in the event of disasters that the storms may cause.

Roberto Cruz, Executive Director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, stated that he has already issued instructions to his 30 delegates to call in their personnel so they can be ready for any emergency.

The Departmental Municipal Commissions of Protección Civil have held meetings with the heads of emergency-response organizations to determine vulnerable areas in their municipalities.
