Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador continues supporting the fumigation campaign to try to eradicate the mosquito that transmits Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya, which has already caused the deaths of three minors and thousands of suspected dengue cases.
Comandos de Salvamento will continue responding to the calls of the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, and the authorities of the Ministry of Health to support the fight against dengue.
Roberto Cruz, Executive Director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, confirms that its volunteers nationwide are committed to attending the various fumigation and larvicide treatment operations, going house to house to prevent mosquito breeding grounds.
The World Health Organization, WHO, states that in the Central American region nearly one hundred people have died from dengue.
Guatemala is the nation with nearly 50 people who have died from this disease and more than 40 suspected cases, followed by Honduras, which has 29 deaths and more than 60,000 reported cases.
Costa Rica has 11,000 suspected cases with no fatalities. Our country has recorded 3 deceased minors and approximately 3,500 cases that remain under observation.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of the Health authorities, supported by Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador and other first-response institutions, a major dengue alert has been brought under control.
However, fumigation and larvicide treatment campaigns will continue to eradicate at an early stage the mosquito that transmits Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya.
