FIRE DESTROYS MEGA PLAZA AGAIN

Fire destroyed vegetable and fruit stalls at the Mega Plaza in Sonsonate Centro.

This afternoon, a new fire consumed several commercial premises located in the Mega Plaza of Sonsonate Centro, leaving considerable material losses.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador assisted Bomberos Nacionales in controlling the flames, which nine days after the first fire destroyed fruit and vegetable stalls.

For several minutes, Bomberos and emergency-response personnel managed to control the fire, thus preventing the flames from reaching nearby commercial premises along 3ª Avenida Sur in Sonsonate Centro.

Comandos de Salvamento’s Sonsonate branch stated that the cause of the fire had not been established and was still being verified.

The Mega Plaza is a commercial site considered the main supply center in Sonsonate Centro.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador reported that there were no personal injuries.

Bomberos Nacionales were assisted by Comandos de Salvamento in extinguishing the fire.
Nine days ago, a fire also destroyed several premises.
Past six-thirty in the evening, firefighting operations at the scene were still ongoing.
Vendors came by to see the damage to their premises.
