The executive directorate of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, through its director Roberto Cruz, has ordered all delegations in the country to keep their volunteer personnel at their headquarters to respond to any emergency.
The Protección Civil authorities raised the green alert due to the rains that have begun to cause some damage in the country, as a result of the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, as well as the influence of a low-pressure system and a tropical wave that will affect the national territory.
In response, Roberto Cruz has asked his bases throughout the country to remain on alert in order to assist possible victims and coordinate with municipal authorities should shelters be opened in areas affected by the storms.
The storms of the past few hours have caused the first emergencies. In Cantón Los Palones in Panchimalco, a wall collapsed, affecting homes. On the Pan-American Highway, near Antiguo Cuscatlán, the El Piro ravine has eroded part of the roadway, endangering traffic in the area.
Likewise, several homes have been flooded in Comunidad El Tanque in Antiguo Cuscatlán, where Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador have already begun preventive work to safeguard people’s lives.
Therefore, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador calls on the general population to remain alert, especially in vulnerable areas, and to seek shelter in case of danger.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador asks that any emergency be reported by calling 2133-0000.
