José Ángel Estrada Murcia was urgently taken to Jorge Mazzini Hospital in Sonsonate.

Around eleven o’clock this Friday morning, volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador responded to the highway from Sonsonate to Metalío, in the western part of the country, where a tractor-trailer had rammed a car several meters before a police checkpoint.

The incident occurred at the bridge in Caserío Belén, where José Ángel Estrada Murcia, 27, experienced moments of anguish while waiting for his vehicle to be moved, as it remained stopped at a checkpoint staffed by PNC agents following a traffic accident.

The driver of a tractor-trailer failed to notice that traffic was stopped, and when he tried to brake, it was too late; he ran over the car in which José Ángel Estrada Murcia was located.

Young members of the Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento in Sonsonate and the Cuerpo de Bomberos used hydraulic equipment, working for more than an hour to free the victim, who was initially stabilized while rescue operations were carried out.

José Ángel Estrada Murcia was heading to his residence in Barra de Santiago when the tractor-trailer almost completely destroyed the vehicle.
