Yesterday afternoon, representatives of several organizations that are part of Norwegian People’s Aid, APN, visited Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador with the aim of learning about the work carried out by the humanitarian service organization in the country.
Members of the Board of Directors and Executive Directorate of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador presented the visitors from Norway with some of the functions they have carried out, from their beginnings in the 1960s to the present day.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador has completed 64 years of humanitarian work in the country, standing out in the areas of vehicle, vertical, and water rescue; currently, it also has a group of divers.
In addition, it provides emergency coverage for traffic accidents, where Comandos has one of the modern hydraulic equipment units acquired with part of the funds from Norwegian People’s Aid, APN. This machinery is essential for freeing people trapped in road accidents.
With highly trained personnel in the operation of the hydraulic equipment, greater effectiveness is achieved in saving the lives of trapped people, who are then transported by pre-hospital care personnel to a medical facility.
In addition to learning about some of the work carried out by Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, the members of Norwegian People’s Aid observed a demonstration of the operation of the hydraulic equipment and toured part of the institution’s facilities.
