This afternoon, the diving team of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador was alerted by relatives of a minor who, while attempting to retrieve a ball in the Acelhuate River, in Soyapango, disappeared in a pool approximately three meters deep.
The incident occurred at around eleven thirty in the morning, when some minors had helped a neighbor cut grass along the riverbank. The minor, identified as Samuel Ernesto Soriano Calderón, 13, saw a plastic ball floating in the water.
The minor attempted to retrieve the ball when his friends saw him sink. From that moment, they began searching downstream. However, the search yielded no results, so they issued an alert for specialized teams to arrive at the site.
Divers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador and the National Navy began searching at the place where the minor had disappeared, locating a pool approximately three meters deep.
Half an hour later, the minor’s body was located at the bottom of the pool, and recovery efforts were carried out to bring it onto firm ground for the required identification.
The tactical team, a member of the Emergency Medical System, Bomberos Nacionales, the Army, and the PNC joined the operation.
