The minors were already asleep when the tragedy occurred.

Comandos de Salvamento attended a new tragedy on Friday night in Cantón San Nicolás, Caserío Las Cañas, in Apopa, where a landslide fell onto the home where two minors were sleeping alongside their grandfather.

The landslide gave way due to last night’s rain, collapsing onto the home of Alejandro Enrique Chávez Navarro, 9, and his brother Luis Alexander Chávez Navarro, 12, who were sleeping in the area where the wall collapsed.

Meanwhile, their grandfather, Alex Manuel Chávez Martínez, 40, was rescued alive and taken to a medical facility.

The search and recovery efforts for the minors’ bodies lasted several hours, with members of Protección Civil, Cruz Verde, Bomberos, the army, and PNC joining in.

The minors’ mother, Teresa Marisela Navarro Moreno, 34, was not present at the time of the tragedy.

After several hours of removing debris, the minors’ bodies were discovered and recovered so that members of Legal Medicine and authorities could carry out the legally required identification.

For several hours, Comandos de Salvamento and other institutions worked to recover the bodies.
